Metamorphosis'04 - International student sculpting festival

From August until October 2004 at the Art Center, young artists created aluminium sculptures out of polystyrene positives. Participants from Slovenia were Bojana
Križanec, Julijan Borštnik, Nuša Pavko, Vita Žgur, Žiga Vojska, plus Boros Miklós János from Hungary and Marie Damisch from Austria working under the mentorship of sculptor
Tomaž Kolaric.

This was the second International Festival of Students’ Sculptures – Metamorphosis,
which aims at supporting youth’s creative activity, diffusing art and sculpture in public spaces and promoting the interaction between young artists from different countries of
old and new Europe.

The festival comprehended three distinct production materials and methods,
simultaneously occurring in different places in Slovenia, namely mosaics in Ljubljana, aluminium sculptures from polystyrene positive in Središce and Lipica marble carving in Sežana.

Main organizer was the Student Organization of University of Ljubljana (ŠOU Lj), and co-organizers were Art Center – Središce, Institute for Sculpture – Ljubljana and the Kosovel House – Sežana.

PiK (SI/P)- Tree heart
This is a Tree Heart. It is a result of a nonmaterialistic moment of entertainment. The idea was to connect the roots of the "neighbour trees" with the stump in the middle, like all the veins in living beings lead to the heart.

The local elements of nature provided every single component of the work. Texture, contrast, rythm and communication are already present in nature, we just made them recognizable.

The work is placed in the forrest behind the Art center and it will degradate naturally with time.

Near the Art Center, Dominique performed at the primary school of Prosenjakovci, a bilingue school near the Slovene/Hungarian border.

"Who said that theatre has to be played at 8 o'clock in a dark room? Culture is that what we sell as culture. So what is theatre? People will show me - I just go to them."

Dominique Jann, born in 1977, worked in Switzerland two years as a teacher in different schools and was three years member of a youth theater in Zuerich. He did different exchanges with companies of other countries and cultures, for example Sarajevo, Lisboa
