A snake’s meal interrupted

Yesterday we noticed a snake pair while working in the garden. First we thought they were both dead, lying completely motionless, but later on noticed one of them is moving … We took some photos and our friend Lučka Zorko helped again – it is a Coronella austriaca, commonly known as a smooth snake and completely harmless to humans, enjoying her meal, a Anguis fragilis or slow-worm. We interrupted the snake so she slowly disappeared in the garden, leaving her prey behind.
